This is part of our project that required us to use a piece of art and respond to it by making something. My painting was in response to Woman I, by Willem De Kooning. I call it... Child I. The child of Woman I.

  1. Dannie, although this is a very unusual painting I think that it clearly relates to the Woman painting. Its a little confusing but that adds to its character, I like the color and I wish there was a little more color in areas you wouldn't expect it to be. Your concept is cool. I like that your human is more or less human than his. I enjoy this painting, it makes you think.

  2. I like how the baby/child is looking off into the color but it sitting in darkness. The black smudge on the back of the child is very interesting.

  3. I still want a foot or more color to connect to the original genesis of the conversation. The interaction between the black and the gray also bugs me a little. I think with such a minimal composition you have an opportunity to mess around where these two fields of paint meet.

  4. I really like the part on the left side of the painting. I love how you painted and the colors that you use for it. I think it looks so much better to see the real painting than through the picture!

  5. it looks liek dirt is rubbed on his little back ! and the shadow.dark area is confusing. i think you should have continued with the color that you did n the left. it one of my favorite of yours though! it has good spacial depth
